Stag dos are always on the brink of going wrong or ending in disaster and it is this adrenaline and excitement that we love about them, or otherwise they’d be just another day and night with the lads and nothing to write home about, not that we do write home about what happens on a stag weekend of course.

However, sometimes they can go more wrong than others as you are about to read with our rundown of some of the funniest/most interesting occasions of when stag dos go wrong.

Caught Fishing With Your Tackle Out

What possesses a group of men to all get naked on a small boat when fishing together? Well, drink presumably and being on a stag weekend kind of justifies what would otherwise (and probably still is) highly questionable behaviour.

However, this happened when a stag party from Bristol were caught by an RAF helicopter naked on the boat while on their Swansea Stag Weekend and to make it worse a BBC camera crew were on board, so their joke was suddenly given national attention.

Skinny Dipping Lands Groom In Hot Water

In June 2007 Steven Mullone, from Worcester, was arrested for skinny dipping in a fountain while on his stag weekend in Bratislava, Slovakia. He received a two month jail sentence and needed the help of British diplomats to get him home in time for his wedding.

The pair from south Wales were left handcuffed on the verge of the A363 after a stag night in Bournemouth and had been covered in eggs, flour and tomato sauce, but the joke backfired as temperatures rose the next day.

We all know how stag weekends are meant to work in England – all the lads meet up, get very drunk, wake up and do an activity and then get drunk again – but how do other countries celebrate their last nights of freedom?

Here is how:

America

To be honest England and America are fairly similar, although of course they call their event a bachelor party and tend to only celebrate it with one raucous night rather than a weekend which has become more and more popular on this side of the pond.

Australia

We’ve probably seen these on Neighbours of Home and Away over the years and they are not to dissimilar to stag parties, but are called Bucks Nights and being Australian they always involve lots of drink, while they often end with the ritual humiliation of the groom, much as we like to do too of course.

Denmark

We like the sound of what the Danes get up to on their Polterabend night. Interestingly the groom does not always know what day his Polterabend will take place before being whisked off for a day of outdoor activities followed by a dinner and night out, which sounds rather civilised, although rest assured strippers usually make an appearance at some point over in Denmark too.

France

A stag do in France is called ‘enterrement de vie de garçon’ which translates as being the burial of life for a boy, which sounds harsh, but to be honest married life is effectively this. The theme is similar here too with lots of drink and raunchy nightspot the main events for the French too.

Unless you have been living under a rock during the past two years you can not have missed The Hangover, which sets the bar for all stag weekends to try and beat, although surely nothing ever will top Mike Tyson, a tiger and a naked Chinaman.

This hit comedy was the star of 2009 and has launched the career of director Todd Phillips and actors Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis as four guys embark on an unforgettable roadtrip to Las Vegas.

Very Bad Things

This black comedy from 1998 was directed by Peter Berg and stared Cameron Diaz and Christian Slater with Las Vegas again playing host to a riotous stag do with lots of drink, drugs and a stripper, who is accidentally killed. Very bad things indeed!

The Bachelor Party

This aptly named comedy film from 1984 was directed by Neal Israel, and starred Tom Hanks, Adrian Zmed, William Tepper, and Tawny Kitaen. The film chronicles a bachelor party which tests whether Rick Gassko (Hanks) can be faithful to his soon-to-be wife.

Stag Night of the Dead

This low budget UK movie from 2009 is predictable gruesome and hilarious in equal measures as Zombies threaten to ruin a stag do by looking like stags usually look on the morning after the night before.

The South Coast resort of Bournemouth wins hands down as being the best stag weekend destination in the United Kingdom.

If it is not bad enough that your mates dress you up for one night of embarrassment you have to spend the rest of your life being watched on YouTube where currently a mere 1.2million have seen him in all of his stag night glory.

Prince William’s stag night is going to have some awkward moments when he is tucking in pictures of his gran in the strippers thong.
